BRF (Bible Reading Fellowship)

BRF is a registered charity that seeks to help people of all ages experience the living God and grow in their discipleship through the Bible, prayer and spirituality.


BRF resources people for their spiritual journey through publishing a range of Bible reading notes and books, and through ministry and outreach with individuals, churches, groups and schools.

BRF's range of published resources includes:

  • Regular Bible reading notes New Daylight, Guidelines and Day by Day with God
  • Regular journal Quiet Spaces exploring prayer and spirituality through biblical themes
  • Books for Advent and Lent
  • Books for those new to the Bible
  • Books relating the Bible to discipleship, and to the seasons and stages of life
  • Books for those involved in preaching and teaching the Bible
  • Books exploring prayer and spirituality - both for the individual and for the church as a whole
  • Books to resource those working in schools and churches in the areas of Bible and spirituality with children under the age of 11

Barnabus logo BRF's Barnabas children's ministry team are available to come to your area, offering:

  • Training and taking RE days in schools - including the Barnabas Live programme and INSET sessions for teachers
  • Training in the church - including training for church-based children's work leaders, running holiday clubs and after-school clubs, and offering a range of reflective opportunities for quiet spaces to resource for their ministry and personal spiritual growth all who work with children


Lucy Moore is a specialist in drama and storytelling and uses the creative arts to bring the Bible alive in exciting programmes based on live performance and interactive workshop activities.

Martyn Payne joined the team in January 2003 having worked for with CMS as National Children's Work Coordinator for several years. He has wide experience of working with both schools and churches throughout the UK to explore ways of opening up the Bible with children.

Alison Harris is based in Chester and joined the BRF staff team in September 2005 as the Barnabas representative for the North of England, having been the Adviser for Children's Ministry in Chester Diocese for eight and a half years.

An increasing number of the authors who write for BRF's children's imprint Barnabas are also becoming directly involved in BRF's children's ministry as well.

Barnabas Live is the focus of BRF's work with schools. Professional actors and storytellers bring the Bible to life with full-day programmes using the creative arts.
