Tax Management for Clergy
We are a specialist firm dealing primarily with the taxation affairs of clergy. We also offer a full service to layworkers and youth workers as well as preparing small business accounts.
Set up as recently as November 2000 but based on clergy taxation knowledge gained over many years, the practice already has in excess of 3500 clients from all denominations and from all parts of the country.
Wherever possible we aim to offer a personal service and sometime during April, May or June you will be offered an appointment to see one of our consultants at a regional venue. At that meeting we will take from you the information needed to complete your Tax Return.
We have over forty venues throughout England and Wales. We also intend to visit Scotland and Northern Ireland as soon as demand dictates. Alternatively we offer a full postal service or an interview by telephone should you require that more “human” touch.

In addition to Tax Return completion we can offer advice on any aspect of Self Assessment, including record keeping and dealing with Inland Revenue enquiries. This can be done over the telephone on a one to one basis or through lecturing to groups of clergy in any location at no cost.
The fee for our basic clergy clients starts at £95 + VAT and increases to £118 + VAT for those who need to complete a land and property schedule. There is also a reduced fee for fully retired clergy and for certain spouses. We offer a variety of payment methods including all the major credit cards and you can also pay by 12 monthly instalments.
Tax Credits
In our experience since tax credits were introduced on 6 April 2003 we have not known a single client, who has completed their own application, to provide the correct income details. There are many deductions that can be claimed that are not detailed in the notes that accompany the application. Depending on the level of the award received it may not make any difference to that award if you overdeclare your income. Broadly if you receive more than the basic credit of £545 (£1090 for children under 1) the award is very sensitive to adjustments in your income e.g. £1000 of overdeclared income will cost you up to £370 in lost tax credit. We strongly recommend clients who receive more than the basic award to use our service.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of our service, or your own individual tax affairs then please contact us by telephone or e-mail, alternatively have a look at our website or visit our stand at one of the upcoming exhibitions.
