The first exhibition attended by Church Edit took place back in May 2006. The digital world looked very different then. Apple would not introduce the first iPhone until January 2007 and Facebook was still restricted to particular schools, universities and organisations. Twitter was still being developed and YouTube was only a year old.

Most people accessed church websites from a desktop computer, mobile internet use was extremely limited and many churches were only just beginning to recognise the importance of having an online presence.

Church Edit has exhibited at every national CRE since that first event in 2006, supporting churches as their websites -and the expectations of the people visiting them have evolved.

A modern church website is much more than an online noticeboard. It is often the first place somebody encounters a church, whether they are looking for service times, activities for children, community support, a wedding or funeral contact, or simply reassurance about what to expect on their first visit.
